Programs and Services

Blood Flow Restriction Therapy

Blood flow restriction therapy may be used as part of a supervised rehabilitation or exercise program. A specialized cuff temporarily reduces blood flow to the working muscles, allowing certain exercises to be performed with lighter resistance.

This therapy may be considered for athletes, people recovering from an injury or surgery, and patients who cannot tolerate traditional high-resistance exercise because of pain or joint limitations.

A trained member of the rehabilitation team will determine whether blood flow restriction therapy is appropriate for you and guide you through the exercises safely.

Bridge Program

The Bridge Program helps athletes continue building strength, movement and sport-specific skills as they progress from rehabilitation toward a safe return to activity.

Exercise plans are developed and managed by CHRISTUS athletic trainers under the supervision of sports medicine physicians. Depending on the athlete's needs, the care team may also involve physical therapists, occupational therapists, fitness coaches and other CHRISTUS Health professionals.

Through sport-specific training, strength exercises and functional testing, the program supports continued recovery and helps athletes prepare for the physical demands of their sport.

Diabetes Education Program

Diabetes education helps those with diabetes or those at risk of developing diabetes learn about the condition and its management. Diabetes education helps patients understand what diabetes is, how to prevent it, how to manage it, and how to live a healthy lifestyle.

As an ADA-recognized quality diabetes education program, we follow the national standards for diabetes self-management and education. We help with many areas related to diabetes self-care, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Insulin injection technique
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Being more active
  • Healthy eating
  • Carbohydrate counting
  • Coping skills
  • Reducing risks and preventing complications
  • Pregnancy and diabetes Insulin pump therapy
  • Continuous glucose monitoring

The Bridge Program helps athletes continue building strength, movement and sport-specific skills as they progress from rehabilitation toward a safe return to activity.

Exercise plans are developed and managed by CHRISTUS athletic trainers under the supervision of sports medicine physicians. Depending on the athlete's needs, the care team may also involve physical therapists, occupational therapists, fitness coaches and other CHRISTUS Health professionals.
